GFFP’s treatment effectiveness newspaper insert was adapted for a kiosk in Ft. Tuthill County Fairgrounds that has over 100,000 visitors a year. Ft. Tuthill is surrounded by forests and is participating in a cost share grant to treat areas inside of the fairgrounds. In addition, the park has recently acquired an open space annex (220 acres) that will be part of this cost share project. The kiosk provides outreach to both residents and visitors by highlighting recent on the ground treatments that assisted firefighters in containing uncharacteristic crown fires that would have had a profound effect on the community. Visitors will also be able see these treatments first hand and understand the reasons this work is so important, the implications if these cross-jurisdictional treatments are not implemented, and the promotion of Firewise principles and concepts.
